Yes, it's always my child....

Woo hoo! The day is finally here! Today is the first day of the new school year! I am so excited and yet, I have to admit that in a few very small moments of weakness, I have also dreaded this day. OK, not really but, there have been brief minutes when the boys were not fighting that summer was just lovely. But, I digress...

On this fabulous new and fresh start day I find myself thinking back to a day nearly 4 years ago. It was the last day of preschool for my youngest. All of my boys attended the same charming and nurturing preschool. They started at 2yrs old going 2 half days a week and by the time they were 5 they had extended it to 5 full days getting them ready for kindergarten.

After 6 consecutive years of being part of the nursery schools community, that included 4 years of service on the parents executive board, I pulled my car into the parking lot. I pulled on my over sized Jackie O sunglasses and tried very hard not to cry. As I walked up the storybook path to retrieve my sweet little boy for the last time I smiled as my eyes teared up. I opened the rod iron gate and walked up to his teacher. As I put my arms around her to thank her for all she had done for all 3 of my boys, she stepped back and with a sly smirk on her face, she said...

"Your child just dropped his pants to his ankles and tinkled on the tree on the center of the playground."

Yep. That's my kid alright. And, 4 years later, my little stinker is the same. Oh so naughty and oh so full of life. (And, now, let's all take this moment to wish his 3rd grade teacher a little good luck!)

  5. Hilarious! I'll never forget the SuperNanny episode where this kid refused to go potty in the toilet... would ONLY go out back in the bushes. This mom would take him out there every time to go ... that is, until SuperNanny interviened. Good thing you're not THAT mom!

  7. Totally just trying to leave his mark! HA This is pretty funny. I have a little boy as well who just started preschool two days a week. I cringe every time I walk through the door to pick him up wondering what he got into or did today...
